Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso — November 3, 2025

Former South African President Jacob Zuma has met with Burkina Faso’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, at the Koulouba Palace in Ouagadougou, in what many are calling a significant step toward the “real liberation of Africa.”
The meeting, held on Monday, brought together two leaders known for their strong Pan-Africanist stance and shared vision for an Africa free from neo-colonial domination. Zuma, described as a former struggle companion of Nelson Mandela, was accompanied by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré.
Speaking after the meeting, Zuma praised the leadership of Captain Traoré, saying,
“I think this country, Burkina Faso, has done something wonderful. That is why I sought to meet with the President—to discuss and see what we can do together to continue the struggle for Africa’s liberation.”
Zuma emphasized that the time has come for Africans to unite in reclaiming the continent’s resources and rewriting its destiny.
“The colonizers still believe that Africa’s riches belong to them. Let’s now say enough is enough—it’s over,” Zuma declared. “Africans must take their destiny into their own hands.”
The discussion between the two leaders reportedly focused on building stronger ties between African nations and strengthening economic independence through Pan-African cooperation. Captain Traoré’s administration has been widely recognized across the continent for its bold anti-imperialist policies and youth-led governance model.
The historic meeting between Zuma and Traoré symbolizes a growing wave of African solidarity and awakening—a call for unity, sovereignty, and the restoration of Africa’s pride.
