Accra, Ghana – Former President of South Africa and President of the MK Party, H.E. Jacob Zuma, together with a delegation from the MK Party, was warmly received in Accra on Monday by His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, and the Ga Traditional Council.
The welcome ceremony, held in the Ghanaian capital, highlighted the strong historical and cultural ties between Ghana and South Africa. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II praised the shared role both nations have played in Africa’s liberation struggles and expressed support for continued pan-African cooperation.
President Zuma is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the 8th Annual Leadership Lecture hosted by the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). The lecture will be delivered under the theme:
“The Geo-politics and Geo-economics of De-dollarization: BRICS Currency Strategy, Lessons for Africa’s Common Currency, and Beyond.”
The address is expected to focus on Africa’s position within the global economy, the growing influence of BRICS, and the potential path toward establishing a common African currency. Analysts believe Zuma’s lecture will contribute to the ongoing debate about how Africa can strengthen its economic independence and reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar in international trade.
According to the MK Party delegation, the visit underscores the importance of economic freedom as the next phase of Africa’s liberation. “This is a critical time for Africa to take bold steps in redefining its role in global affairs,” one delegate noted.
The event has drawn significant attention from academics, policymakers, and students across Ghana, who view Zuma’s presence as an opportunity to engage with broader questions about Africa’s future in a shifting world order.
